This quarter has been one of our busiest periods as a company with many live contracts all happening concurrently.
This been said we have still been successful in picking up additional work for later in the year. We have been awarded the third phase project at MIRA for MAB 1 which is a research unit for various manufactures to test car parts. We have also picked up a second unit at Connars Quay where we completed a similar project last year.
We have also finish off one of our biggest projects to date with the completion of 3 Units for IM Properties in Solihull, one of which is the new John Lewis distribution centre. This building itself had new challenges as the air leakage requirement on the building needed was 1m3/hr/m2. In conjunction with Kingspan technical and our design we are pleased to say this was achieved and is one of only a few in the country to date, to have done so in a unit of this sort.
Work has started in this quarter on the 5 schools in Coventry which all started together in a short space of time. This had challenges itself contracting and designing, but we achieved what was required to get to site when needed. The standing seam Euroclad Elite plus ES400 built-up roof systems are on at many of the schools, as is the Kingspan Topdek membrane panel, with detailing and capping works to follow along with cladding on 2 of the schools.
We have handed over the first project at MIRA and though this was the second phase building, the program was a little shorter and even with these time constraints handed over in time for fit out. The Haldex building which was phase one is almost complete also and is due to be handed over in October. Both units had Kingspan composite panels throughout and this was the first project that we have installed the Benchmark Evolution panel with the ‘Recess’ and gasket insert. The end finish on the Office areas is aesthetic enough to provide a more striking finish to the area, whilst maintaining a composite panel finish.
We have also installed only the third project of its kind, the Kingspan Kreate panel system. Comprising of a composite panel system with a cassette rainscreen already installed on the panels. The panels were used on a project at Moseley School in Birmingham and the overall end appearance is no different to a traditional rainscreen system, but with installation and weathering time being greatly improved. We have also installed an acoustic built-up Euroclad SF500 roof system on the sports hall along with some flat roofing membrane built-up areas.
We have also started work on 3 units at Trident Park Leamington, 4 units at Solihull Retail Park incorporating Benchmark ACM rainscreen panels and the large project at Heath Park School in Wolverhampton. Details on these and others will follow in the next quarter.
